I have been enjoying the challenge of doing paintings views from my home. This one faces the southwest.

I am going to stop painting for a while today and work on updating my website, which has not had any of my latest work in it. Check my website to learn more about my work.

Later today, I hope to have some website updates and get back to completing a portrait I started last night.

Judith Reidy Painting Live at ORO di Oliva during Westside Artwalk

Harwood Night
oil
9" x 7"
This was painted while out on the sidewalk looking south on Harwood Ave toward State Street on Friday night April 23, 2010, from dusk until about 8:30 pm.

Rainy Day at Bartollota's Corner
Oil
7" x 6.25"
It was a very rainy Saturday, so I painted this view of the corner of State and Harwood from the inside ORO looking through double glass, a window and my glasses. Am I painting the Plein Air if I look through double or single glass?

Sunrise
Acrylic
13 x 10
This painting was actually one of many paintings painted in Oconomowoc during the 2009 Plein Air season.

I actually had my studio paintings on display at ORO di Oliva, many of which you can see on my website with my video clip on my home page and on my studio gallery page

I chose not to work on my pastel painting in the special store, becasue pastels can be messy and dusty.

My First Paint a Day

Road Uphill at Malin Head
5.75" x 5.75"
oil on board
$75
contact the artist for sale

This is the first in a series of daily paintings that I am doing. As part of a commitment to doing a painting a day for the next 40 days, I have planned to do these completed studies in preparation for larger pieces. Each day I intend to spend a portion of my painting time with the intent of making one completed painting. The balance of the work day will be in painting a larger piece and or in other art related tasks.

This painting was done from a photo and memory of my trip to Ireland. The steely sky and wet roads marked the area, along with the white stone homes along the way.

What do you think?

Plein Air Frigid Weather Painting - Saturday in January

Well I like this little 10" x 10" plein air painting I made this past Saturday in downtown Oconomowoc during their Chillifest and while the other artists were outside scultpting their ice scultptors. Here I was across from the Griffin Gallery (Blue Building) in a warm unused storefront alcove nice and cosy.
Wish you could have been there painting too.
You can buy this painting from me for $250. Just press the paypal button and you will be on your way.
